What it does
Nothing but the document
Start typing and the file sidebar and the table of contents fade out completely — not dimmed, gone. The page is left alone on screen. Move the cursor over them and they come back. One document at a time: no tabs, no panes, no graph, and a ruler you can pull down to nothing.
Direction, per block
Every paragraph, heading and list takes its direction from the first letter in it. Digits and punctuation are neutral, a block with nothing to detect from continues the one above it, and a list puts its bullet on the correct side. Nothing is written into your file to make this work.
A folder, not a library
Point it at a folder that already exists and work in place. No import step, no vault format, no database — the same folder can stay a git repository or an iCloud Drive folder.
Search across the folder
Every Markdown file below the current folder, with context snippets and the matches highlighted. It searches as you type, and opening a result carries the query into the document.
Rendered editing, plain files
The document is edited as it looks: formatted text, not raw markup. The file on disk stays plain Markdown. Tables survive a full round trip as pipe tables, and links keep the title you gave them.
Native, offline, no account
A Rust binary on the system webview, not an Electron browser. No network, no account, no telemetry — the App Store builds contain no HTTP client at all. On iPhone and iPad, files in iCloud are downloaded only when you open them.
Already using Obsidian? Keep using it.
Point PureWrite at the folder your vault already lives in, and write there. Nothing is imported and nothing is converted. Obsidian keeps working exactly as it does now, and PureWrite is simply the window you open when the task is to write. Move between them whenever you like; the files are the same files.
